Make Sure to Update Your Info with St. Johns County Sheriff's Office-CodeRED

The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office's latest media release is directed to all residents of St. Johns County, Florida.

They will be utilizing the CodeRED Emergency Notification System this Friday, March 18, 2011 to call the entire St.Johns County community. The calls will start in the afternoon and will continue until their entire database has been called.

This call will give Sheriff's Office the chance to operate the system as if there has been a community-wide disaster.

The phone message that will be delivered will direct you to the Sheriff's Office website to add additional phone numbers. Additionally, they will ask to you help spread the word by mentioning to others you know in St. Johns County. Hopefully this blog will get the word out as well.

St. Johns County Sheriff David Shoar suggests that "all individuals and businesses should take the time to visit our website and add contact information to include cellular phones and other non-traditional phones as well as email and text addresses if so desired. If your contact information is not in the database you will not receive a call when an urgent message is sent."

Please make sure your home and business are registered. Of concern are individuals who have unlisted phone numbers, who have changed their phone number recently, and those who use a cellular phone exclusively or have VoIP phones (such as Vonage) as their primary numbers.

Please log onto the Sheriff's Office website and follow the CodeRED link on the right hand side of the home page.

Those without Internet access may call (904) 209-6355 this Friday, March 18, 2011 between noon and 5 p.m. Required information includes a physical street address for location purposes and a primary phone number. Additional phone numbers, email and text addresses may also be entered.

Barbara - good post, and great idea! I wonder if Duval County has plans for something similar.

Carol-I hope so. I hope all places in the world have something like this and are testing it.
