Vilano Beach Hazardous Waste Day - January 22, 2011

Hazardous Waste Community Collection Day is Saturday, January 22, 2011 in Vilano Beach. Please dispose of household hazardous waste, obsolete electronics, tires and more between 8:00 am to noon at North Beach Park, A1A & 24th Street in Vilano Beach. Residential materials only. This event is only open to St. Johns County residents regardless of where you live in St. Johns County.

A Community Collection Day provides us an opportunity to safely dispose of household hazardous waste, obsolete electronics including old computer equipment, and tires. Examples of household hazardous waste items include paint, oil, cleaners, pesticides, batteries and pool chemicals. So clean out your garage safely and bring them to North Beach Park by Villages of Vilano in Vilano Beach.

There are a few restrictions:

  • No microwave ovens or large appliances are accepted
  • Each household is limited to disposing no more than ten tires
  • Residential materials only
  • No commercial items
  • No construction materials
  • No garbage or yard trash
  • No medical waste or items

The following HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE will be accepted:

  • paint
  • motor oil and oil filters
  • gasoline
  • fluorescent bulbs
  • wax
  • cleaners and soap
  • pool chemicals
  • pesticides and insecticides
  • grout
  • aerosol cans,
  • antifreeze
  • adhesives
  • flea dip,
  • car & appliance batteries
  • polishes
  • lamp oil
  • lubricants
  • muriatic acid
  • propane gas cylinders
  • strippers, solvents,  and thinner
  • transmission fluids and brake fluid
  • ant killer
  • lighter fluid
  • fire extinguishers
  • linseed oil
  • naval jelly
  • photo chemicals
  • and other similar items

The following OBSOLETE ELECTRONICS will be accepted:

  • monitors and terminals
  • televisions
  • CPU's (PCs) and laptops
  • printers, scanners, copiers, fax machines
  • keyboards, mice, cables, game hardware
  • UPS units
  • external drives, modems
  • desk phones, mobile phones, pagers, hand held radios
  • stereos, VCR's, tape players, speakers
  • small kitchen appliances
  • power tools
  • health/beauty appliances.

TIRES: Automotile and light truck tires only (limit 10/household)
