Normally, 146 of our nation's 392 national parks charge entrance fees ranging from $3 to $25. The fee free waiver for National Park Week does not include other fees collected in advance or by contractors such as fees charged for camping, reservations and use of concessions.
Saturday, April 24, is National Junior Ranger Day. Children taking part in kid-friendly activities can earn a junior ranger patch. Click the above link to view the different National Parks offering the Junior Ranger Day.
You can also become a Webranger, the National Park Service's on-line Junior Ranger program. Participate in over 50 games while learning about the National Park Service. But with the parks being free this week and with such glorious weather, it is a perfect time to get outside and enjoy these national treasures.
In St. Augustine, the Castillo de San Marcos will be free. This is a wonderful fort that kids of all ages enjoy.
